In 2006 Ferrari confirmed their continuing commitment to design and performance with the launch of the F430 GT model. with an accent on design unashamedly pointed towards its more sport orientated clients. Based around the 360 model design school, the F430GT retained the general appearance and feel of the road version, whilst incorporating a significant number of modifications and a load of new features. According to projections made at the time that the car was launched, the F430 GT was due to replace the not so successful 360 series in 2007.
Despite the beating that the 360’s took in their competition against the Lamborghini and Porsche competition, the 430 retained a very strong resemblance in terms of body shape, while a great effort was made to improve on the car’s strengths and iron out its weaknesses. One of the principal areas of contention was that the 360 was overweight in the wrong areas causing her road holding qualities leaving a lot to be desired. In the F430 Ferrari’s engineers based their design on the more successful Enzo model, utilizing aluminum body panels wherever possible and consequently reducing the F430 weight to a sprightly 3,200 pounds.
The body of the F430 has been revamped with an accent on making the car even more tantalizingly curvaceous whilst retaining an aerodynamic and downforce qualities. There is no mistaking the Ferrari heritage in the car and in case any would, the car's name has been etched into the driver's side mirror. To emphasize the point, large oval shaped openings placed on the front bumper remind Ferrari followers of the racing models from the 60s.
Available either as a standard coupe or as the traditional soft top known as the Spider, the Ferrari F430 contains most of the modern convenience that you would expect in a performance car coming from this stable. The body shape is enhanced by the inclusion of bi-HID headlights among other standards for the exterior. For the interior standard equipment include keyless entry, automatic dual-zone climate control, automatically dimming mirrors, adjustable power seats and a very nifty MP3 audio system.
Standard wheels for the Ferrari F430 GT are 19-inch diameter with 225/35ZR19 tires in the front and 285/35ZR19 tires at the rear.
Being a Ferrari potential buyer is presented with a list of limitless options too enhance the interior as well as the exterior of the car. These can include carbon-fiber interior trim, special exterior paint jobs, with matching interior leather upholstery and luggage!
People generally do not buy Ferrari’s on the strength of their interior instead for their power and in the F430GT, Ferrari have come with a very powerful car indeed. In the F430ft, the engine is situated in the middle of the car. It has been completely re-designed and now is a ninety degree V8 4.3 liter producing 438 horsepower on a torque peaking at 343 pounds per square foot.
Power to the wheels arrives through a Ferrari updated version of their sequential shift manual transmission. Titled the “FI” this is also an improved version, and those in the know states that it is much smoother than its predecessors whilst still very capable of allowing super-quick shift ups and downs.
Close collaboration with the Brembo Company went into design of the brakes on the F430 with the result a better heat dissipation performance.
Many people saw the F430 as being an interim model and soon to be replaced by the F450. As yet is yet to happen and many examples of this model have found there way into the showrooms and for there onto the roads of the world.
